Fighting Cocks and the Red Rhodie
Guiding at Hill of Tarvit today and the Blipfoto is a painting called "Fighting Cocks" by Melchior d’Hondecoeter (1636-1695)
It is an allegorical representation of the Franco Dutch wars and each bird represents a protagonist in this event. The fighting cocks are the French and Dutch sides and the Peacock is the Holy Roman Empire.

The red flowers are from a rather fine rhododendron which is just coming into full bloom
