Medal Routes–Napier University & a halti collar

We did another 'medal route walk' today. Check it out here. The only trouble is.................... I have to stay on my lead for a week to 10 days after my 'big girl op'.

Ann said, 'Trixie, I think we will take the opportunity to practise 'on lead' walking because you are rubbish at it.' Well, saying that is not giving me much positive reinforcement is it? A few weeks ago Ann bought me a halti collar because I zig-zag around all over the place when I'm walking on my lead and Ann is really worried that she's going to trip over me and break a leg. And then who would walk me?

Anyway she's not actually used the halti collar on me because the first time she put it on me, I didn't like it, so she didn't pursue it. Today she said, 'Trixie, if you're going to be walking for an hour a day on your lead you need to walk sensibly. You're going to wear your haltie whether you like it or not.

So she put it on me and I didn't like it. But I didn't have a choice in the matter. I tried chewing it, but that just made Ann shout 'NO' at me. And do you know what?............................. by the end of our walk I was walking on the left, right beside Ann like a perfect pooch. Yay! Apparently I'm going to wear it on all our 'medal routes' for at least a week. And then as soon as Ann is confident that I can walk like a perfect pooch on my lead at all times, I can go back to my normal collar & lead.

Oh and if anyone is interested........................... I'm not wee-ing all the time any more. I was dry in my crate last night and although I've wee'd every time Ann has taken me outside, I haven't had any little accidents in the flat today.

Today I have been a perfect pooch!!!
