Moot
Before you read this, I shall give a spoiler. Moot is downstairs asleep on the sofa.
I came downstairs this morning to feed the cats and do all the usual Morning stuff. Moot was lying in front of the door to the garden - he likes to go out for a schnupper before his breakfast. And so I opened the door... and nothing happened. He just lay there.
This is not a good thing to discover at 8 in the morning. And when he miaowed, it was a sound to rip your heart in 2.
I asked a neighbour if they could give me a lift to the vet in town, and they very kindly said yes. Wer got to the practise and I said I would get a taxi home so he drove off. It was then that I noticed that there was a sheet of paper stuck to the door of the practise. The practise was shut because the vet was ill.
Terrific. I'm in the middle of Wiesbaden and I need to find a vet NOW. So I whip out my "smart" phone and try to search.... but my mobile can't access the internet.
It was about here I switched to swearing in English.
I walked to the nearest taxi rank and we hared off to the vet in Schierstein. Thankfully they took us in straight away.
After being checked out, Moot was hooked up to a drip and given a vitamin injection. We waited for blood results.
And waited.
And waited some f****** more.
And he's got virtually no blood sugar. So he gets lots of sugar in the form of glucose injections and honey.
And then we waited until he showed some signs of activity. He could sit up under his own steam. I dashed off to the supermarket down the road and bought tuna fish. He managed to eat a lot of that - it was like he was starving.
And then we waited some more.
The vet was happy with his responses and we could finally go home. Some 5 hours after we left the house.
Like I said, he is OK. He's asleep on the sofa.
I'm a mess of jangling nerves. On the plus side, I'm a mess of jangling nerves at home with Moot.
We have to go back to the vet on Monday. Moot needs to be thoroughly examined and to have all sorts of tests.
I need some quiet.
This is from 11 this morning. If you listen carefully to this blip, that ripping sound is my heart breaking because I can't help.
