lunch: mauresque, olives, salade verte, rosé, omelette aux truffes, ravioles aux truffes, café.

It's been a bad year for finding truffles, consequently some of them cost over 1500 euro a kilo!

Waiting at the market this morning, I was accosted by a truffle expert...a charming wee old man who told me where to find the best ones and where the serious truffle dealing was going on (you could see nothing...it was all happening in the backs of vans!).

I met him twice more....the third time being when he came and sat down next to me and my date in the café and started shooting the breeze as if he'd known me for years! haha.

Got Carrie a box of eggs with 30g of truffles...you keep it closed tight for at least 5 days and then make the classic truffle omelette. The truffle sweats and you can already see drips of water on the eggs. Great Boxing Day breakfast :)
