quick change

Up early and breakfasted with the family. Relaxed as much as we could before heading back to Marseille in the evening. We had to take Pierre's work van and my car as he was going to have to hand back his work van before Christmas! We'd have no way of getting back home otherwise!

Pierre's mum and dad were glad to see us when we arrived late that evening. We would be staying with them for the next few nights.

Annie made her own crèche de Noël this year; with the traditional blé de l'ésperance growing by its side. All typically provençal. The crèche is like our Nativity Scene, only with A LOT more detail, more animals and many more characters. Jesus gets placed into the scene on Christmas morning. Most of Annie's "santons", or the characters you can see here in the scene, have been hand-painted by her or her husband, Daniel. You can buy them ready-painted, but it's so much more fun to do it yourself. That's a new wee project for me for next year!
