Chiffchaff

Today's the day ……………………….. to identify

I am pretty much 100% certain - that this is a picture of a chiffchaff.

I've been hearing its very distinctive song for several days now.  The trouble is that it's one of the LBJ brigade (Little-Brown-Jobs) and, unless you are a very good bird-watcher, it's very difficult to distinguish between them.  But this one was so often about - in fact I think it must have a nest on top of the old railway viaduct because that's where the call was coming from.

So I persevered - until it stayed long enough on a branch for me to take this picture.  And, I have to say, I'm quite pleased with it ……………………!
