Petley
An early start today, as we had promised to visit David and Maureen in Shrewsbury while sister in law Jo and Paul were there too. Our mission should we choose to accept it was to investigate David’s attic and sort if possible.
He has the inevitable family hoard of artworks inherited from Llew, in a rather dusty muddle. Rob and Jo did some tidying and sorting, and this large oil caught my eye and I offered to adopt it.
It’s a particularly lovely one I think, the blanket of snow and the naked tree trunks are so evocative. On the back it says it was Horseshoe Bay, back in ‘54. That was where he and Nancy lived when they started their family, and Rob and I went on a pilgrimage two years ago. Although the area where the house was has all changed, the Canadian landscape is quite awe inspiring.
So couldn’t resist this one. It needs a clean and some TLC then I hope it will fit on one of our walls!
