Oldie but goodie

It's still raining!! What to do about that...get out and find something to take a picture of. I love old buildings and they aren't so easy to find. I was actually heading to a totally different destination when I spotted this building. I actually was fortunate to get a red light at the moment as didn't have to stop traffic to get the shot. Whew! I pass it all the time and love the look of it. I grabbed my camera off the front seat of the car and snapped two shots before the light turned green. This Blipping is serious work!
The one thing I love so much about traveling is all the old places that were built so long ago and the fact that they are still standing today.
Living in a small borough as opposed to a large town does have its perks. A lot of the quaintness of long ago does still remain.
The Washington Hose Company's brick building at is a landmark that is still standing. It was completed in 1903 and is now the Boro Art Center.
Way back in 1882, the residents of the small town where I live in were concerned about the threat of fire due to sparks and hot embers that were thrown from passing railroad trains. The town I live is considered a commuter town because of the train coming right through the center of town and its quick and easy access to New York City.
The actual volunteer fire department is in a newer building that is right next door to this one. Hard to imagine that this old building had just one hook and ladder truck and one hose carriage.
