Christmas chez Libby
Today the assistants decided we would celebrate Christmas the English way.
We all brought English foods (roasted parsnips and carrots for me) and Libby made roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. We even had Iranian style sprouts made by Shadi. Took the train to Monistrol at 10.38 and arrived at Libby's just after 12 as I got everyone a little bit lost. That's the last time I'm trusting google maps! The afternoon was passed in eating, drinking and generally being merry. Lots of discussions about cultural differences and even the odd attempt at political discussion! Had a really lovely afternoon (most of which I passed in a really cool rocking chair owned by Libby) drinking tea and eating banana bread. Hati got a little bit rowdy after some wine and I remembered how I haven't missed drunk people at all, not sure how I'll get back into nights out at uni! There's also a certain tension between the Americans and the English after the whole awkward situation of whether or not Thomas could be invited to our Thanksgiving dinner. It is all the more awkward now Rebekkah has broken up with her boyfriend to date Thomas (he being 18, she being 24!). Anyway... Took the train home 20.47 and arrived just after 21.30. Got in and got a relatively early night!
So kind of Libby to invite everyone over and I did have a great day listening to Christmas music and generally feeling festive. Shame that, like every family, there was some tensions on our Christmas day!
