Diary of an Edinburgher

Neighbours pleased

All the chaps arrived bang on 8am, and caught us on the hop. But they got a lot done again. The bathroom chaps finished off for the day about midday - plasterer is coming tomorrow, tiler on Thursday.

And they cleared the front garden. YAY! I think the neighbours will be pleased too, it's been full of assorted, unsightly debris for the past couple of months.

The kitchen progress is somewhat at a slower pace, but Andrew the boss came in and outlined his plans for the next few days - with the final job of sanding the floor on Friday and sealing it on Saturday when the other workers aren’t in.

Kev was drilling the next part of the hole for the extraction fan through to the outside, so we departed to the cafe. Archie is very good in cafes now - he used to yap if one of us went to the toilet, and get very excited and barky when we started to leave, but now he just sits and waits, with an occasional pleading look for whatever we're eating.

JR and Archie then went for a big walk, and just as well that I came home because the lads were packing up ready to leave. Andrew, our kitchen contractor is very impressed with the job they've done, and he was especially taken with the down lights, not having seen them before.

The end is in sight! Well, the beginning of the end - there is such a lot of cleaning up to do to get back to normal.
