One step at a time
Mr C agreed to accompany me up Simonside this morning. These steps lead to the top - the original path had become so eroded that we now have slabs of stone almost all the way along the top too.
Going up was fine, but getting down the various crags was more of a problem, due to the cataract and the slippy stones. We had the wind behind us, so the rain wasn’t blowing into our faces.
Despite the weather the larks were singing on the decent though the grouse took exception to our presence. Mr C turned down by Dove Crag and back to the car, whereas I went all the way along the top to come down at Lordenshaws, where he drove to pick me up.
It was only 4.5 miles and 11,000 steps but I’m tired now - it’s the arthritic foot that hurts more than the ankle. Typical.
