Diary of an Edinburgher

Unusual item in front garden

LOTS done today! Our entire plumbing system has always been a bit dodgy - I suspect it was a DIY job - we always had problems with slow draining, water coming up in the bath from the sink etc. But it has been overhauled, refined, and generally improved 100%. In fact, had this not been done now, I suspect that we would have had big problems sooner or later.

Peter the plasterer arrived even before JR was out of bed - he was keen to get on with plastering in the window corner. Which is where the plumber needed to work all morning. And so Peter went off to another job and came back in the afternoon with the boss to finish the plastering and - yay! - to start putting in the (remote controlled) extractor fan. Our plumber did comment that although they hadn’t finished when they were supposed to, they were doing a lovely job of the plastering.

The (old, dusty) toilet spent the day out in the front garden, much to Archie's puzzlement. (The new toilet spent the day still in its box). So we went to the local cafe for a bacon bap, decent coffee and to avail ourselves of the facilities.

JR and Archie then went off for a big walk, while I wandered back to supervise renovations. I bumped into a wee pal who invited me in while apologising for the 'mess' in her lounge (a wee pile of things on the coffee table). Mess? I'll show her what mess is.

I made a long-overdue visit to see Uncle Angus, and scored a couple of bright orange tennis balls for Archie.

A special visitor tomorrow!
