View towards Chania

What a view over the Venetian harbour of Chania and the Lefka Ori (very aptly: White mountains). When I did my geology fieldwork on Crete in May and June (a very long time ago) I already heard that in winter there was snow on the mountains. Then, in the scorching heat, it seemed far fetched. However, look at these snow capped mountains! Wow... It has to be said that Crete has suffered some atrocious weather over the last weeks with unusual amounts of precipitation, so I am not sure if there is this much snow on the mountains every year.
