Early Riser
I was actually glad that I'd been asked to cover the early shift as I got to see the fabulous sunrise. As I drove down to the coast road the sun hadn't risen but the sky was all sorts of colours, so I pulled over in Rottingdean to get a shot of the sky over the cliffs. I then carried on into town and my plan was to capture the sun rising over the Palace Pier, but as I drove I could see it rising in my rear view mirror and there was nowhere for me to pull over - typical!
I parked near the bandstand but by the time I got there the sun was higher than I'd hoped, but it was still pretty spectacular. I took a few shots from there and then went down to the beach, met a guy from Brighton Skies so we had a brief chat, and I took some more photos looking towards the pier and then I went off to work.
It's been quite spring like today and I did think about stopping off at the beach again on my way home to see the murmuration but decided against it as it had been a long day, so headed home. I asked Alan to heat up the Palace and we sat in there for an hour or so, so it's officially open again. We even decided to open a bottle of fizz to celebrate the occasion - well it is Valentine's Day tomorrow ;-)
Tonight we've changed our room booking for Dubai and now have a Burj Khalifa view room, hopefully with a balcony - it's 4 weeks tomorrow, and I'm getting very excited! I've also been chatting to Diane who I'm going to stay with in May and as luck would have it, Ingeborg is going to be in the area at the same time so we're going to arrange to get together. I met Inge 6 years ago when we were both living in Belgium so it will be really nice to see her again.
Oh and I've booked tickets to see War Horse with mum in Liverpool in August. I've seen it before, but I knew mum hadn't, but wanted to, and it's doing another tour this year.
Anyway, after all that excitement it's time for bed, I seem to be posting my blips very late at the moment!
Thoughts are with Charlotte, her sister and their dad tonight xx
