Stumpy garden skink

This is the first skink I have blipped, as you tend to take them for granted seeing them most warm days. This one I have called "Stumpy" is missing one of his feet. Must have been a near fatal accident with one of his predators!

It is a simply a common garden skink and they eat many of the bugs we do not particularly want around, such as slugs, crickets, moths, slaters, flies, grubs, cockroaches and caterpillars.

Skinks are egg laying reptiles and remind me of mini snakes on legs. This skink is common across most of Southern Australia and grows to a maximum of 14 cm, but rarely exceeds a size of 9 cm. Our common Garden Skink normally lives up to 2-3 years. Seen much clearer in LARGE.
