Our Street blip #2 - Recycling Day
Today I am sharing with you blip #2 in our street. I had decided to wait for our garbage truck day which is a Wednesday when 2 different trucks visit our street. This gives you a totally different angle looking from our house across to the recycling truck, and our neighbor's house across the street.
Kerbside recycling has been extremely successful in our Mitcham Council area with all residents participating in this worthwhile environmental initiative.
Recycling is collected fortnightly on the same day as our regular basic rubbish collection. Regular basic is truck #1. Plastics, paper and cardboard go in our 240 litre bin with a yellow lid.
The green lidded bin is used for the Green Organics Kerbside Collection by truck #2. This bin is the one you see being emptied into the top of the truck today, and is collected on the alternate week to our yellow recycling bin. Seen even better in LARGE.
You will note that the bin being emptied into the truck is NOT in fact green in colour, as per my story about our green bin day today! This particular neighbor likes to be different and his children have painted his green bin cream!
I deliberatly did not catch the front of the truck showing the driver, as he may have thought we were taking photos for sending in a report on him!
I know this writeup must sound terribly boring to my fellow Aussie blippers, where I suspect it is a very similar system in most other places in Australia. However I know it is not like this in UK, and I am not sure how this collection system works in USA. Maybe some of our USA and NZ blip friends will fill me in on their systems.
See One street, our street blip #1 here if you missed it before.
