Sally Mair - Loving life

Day 8 Blast from the past

I went for a walk around the sports ground opposite today, to get my steps up. Walking in the early evening, 5.45-6.30, which is just before it gets dark, is relatively manageable.
I was on my second circuit of 5, when I spotted this lady setting out her wares, at first, from a distance I thought she was selling bottles of water as refreshment then when I got closer, I realised she was actually selling Tupperware. I don't even know if you can still buy it in the UK. I have bought Tupperware from shops here in the past as it is much cheaper than it ever was at home and the quality is good. I'm most impressed at her entrepreneurship, setting up her stall there. It's kind of a different take on a Tupperware party.
Good advice for drivers on the barrier beside her too!
I've had a busy day, went shopping this morning and bought a nighty. Indian ladies often wear nighties at home during the day rather than sarees, which are impractical for cooking etc. The nighties you buy here are actually more of a full length day dress though than something flimsy for sleeping in and they are very comfortable and practical. Back home again, I walked up to the tea stand with my flask and had it filled for 50/- (rupees not shillings for those over a certain age!)
I then walked down to the cathedral to meet the pastorate chairman to discuss where I am going to stay for the next 3 weeks but he had to go to a meeting so I'm meeting him tomorrow. Dropped in on Methi on my way back, she's the teacher I class shared with for 6 months in 2007 so that was good, we still don't speak each other's languages but heh ho, we manage. Lovely to see her.
12750 steps today. Pleased to have been managing to do them but I'm not beating myself up about it, it's been 35' so hopefully I'll sweat off any extra weight!
