Day 7 Parotta master

I believe this is my 1500th blip so I thought I would go for something special. This is the Ruchi 2 hotel in Palayamkottai, where I go regularly for my dinner. The word hotel is used here for places that sell food, not necessarily accommodation.
It's a non-veg restaurant, which means they serve meat... obvs Sally!
My favourite is chicken 65, which is chicken marinated in yogurt and a mix spices, and then fried. I don't mind how many spices it is, I don't think it's 65 though, anyway it's delicious. That's what I had tonight with some fresh veg noodles. It's very hard to avoid fried food here, my food came with two accompaniments, red onion in curd and onion with coconut and garlic all served on a banana leaf. Yum!
The local evening bread in this area is parotta which comes in different versions - having a good parotta master can make or break your business. People come from great distances to buy some and take them home.
The dough is stretched, kneaded and folded throughout the evening until it is just right then fried till crispy. As you can see in the blip there is a constant supply as they are so popular!Absolutely delicious, it is served as an accompaniment to many dishes. If you look at the hands of the man on the right you can see that he is pulling and stretching the oiled dough into a thin sheet prior to folding it back together. His hands move at the speed of light!

A fairly quiet day, settled into my room did a little shopping and went for a couple of walks, it's hot walking here. On Prem's advice I went to the VOC ground which is a nearby park/sports Stadium. There were lots of lots of people walking round while I was there, I did 5 circuits which was one and a half miles. I nearly caused a toddler to have a terrible accident though, she was so surprised to see somebody white she forgot to look where she was going and almost walked into somebody going past her quickly!
It's good to know there is somewhere nearby where I can go to put in the steps each day. I went at around 5.45pm, it was cooling down by then but still light. It's been around 35' during the day here and down to about 30 overnight. Hooray for AC!
