Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie... Do you want your tea?

Bike.

No builders today. Which is good. But we'd rather they got on with it. I'm expecting lots of progress soon.

Change of plan re the doors. I don’t want to pay a chap £100 or so for each door (total £800!), when they're not really that bad. Plan C: Buy a sander, do them myself. Can’t be that hard. In fact, I know it isn’t. In NZ, we used to buy up old bits of furniture and do them up. Can’t remember if we actually sold them, but I do remember taking a corner a teensy bit too fast, the newly sanded dressing table tied 'securely' on the trailer, but it failed to take the corner and went whizzing off and ended up as a pile of kindling.

Also, the price of sanders is ridiculous! £20, good reviews, a pile of spare sandpaper and free postage. Done. I'll be able to sand away at each of the doors at my leisure.

Libby came to take Archie out for a while. They did get caught in a wee shower, but also had sunshine and a rainbow. In fact, Libby came back home with her jacket tied round her waist!

JR went back to the recyclers and got a few more proper brass 'finger plates' for the doors. We just had thin ones, which apparently had been lacquered, and they could never be cleaned properly. The recyclers didn’t even want them.

I busied myself adding the last few bits of dust proofing round the doors. Dust? Bring it on!

Just heard that the builders are not coming back till Monday. Those padstones have to dry properly... Just have to go with the flow. *Sigh*

This is Archie, roused from his evening snooze, being asked if he’d like his tea. He likes to think about it for a second or two - in case he dreamed it - before leaping into action. Love that look.
