RIP Sir Patrick

A battered old badge which I bought at the Royal Observatory of Edinburgh many years ago.
I remember reading a book by Sir Patrick Moore when I was young which fired an interest in astronomy. I was then priviliged to go to a lecture by Sir Patrick almost 30 years ago at the Calton Hill Observatory- I think he talked about the moon and a few months later I was able to watch Halley's Comet through the telescope there. I suppose if it hadn't been for Patrick Moore's book I wouldn't have had that opportunity.
