Snack time

A photograph from last year taken during our severe winter. This otter had been visiting our garden regularly , leaving his paw prints clearly visible in the snow but I had not seen him. Until late afternoon he appeared at the pond pushing through the snowy ice to fish for his supper. I watched him for over 30 minutes and was able to get very close to photograph him. Unfortunately he is not very photogenic due to his rather raw nose, looks like a tumour, he also had sores evident on his feet. 
So, BBC Winterwatch starts tonight and they are in one of my favourite places...our wild Cairngorms. Wonder if they will get lucky with otters?
