Sally Mair - Loving life

How long?

Spotted this poster in a cafe in Moffat today. I can't believe how long it is - 13 years since the smoking ban came in. It makes such a difference going out for a meal and not being surrounded by smoke and smokers.
I had my hair cut this morning in preparation for my travels. I'm really pleased with it, it's quite short which was what I wanted. I've just got to see how it survives being washed and dried by me in the morning without all the extra work put into it today by Gail.
I drove down to Cumbria this afternoon to stay with a friend and relax for a few days before my final preparations for travel next week. I decided to travel via the A701 Moffat road which is much nicer than the A702 I think. The weather was fine in Edinburgh, but as I drove down, I realised that the route had had much more snow than I had expected, the hills and roadsides were quite white until I got past the Devil's Beeftub, at which point, as the road faced south and west, all the snow disappeared.
There was a policecar on my tail all the way from Romanno Bridge to Moffat which was nerve wracking in one way and reassuring in another.
Made it here safely though in just under 3 hours, time to relax now.
Not much time for walking today, but I've managed my week's target already, so today and tomorrow are days in hand which is good.
5700 steps today.
