Rambling

My friend R and I headed out this morning for a backroads trip to a couple of small towns.  She was looking for old and derelict and I was looking for possible street photography photos with people...that didn't happen but we did find so much old and derelict.   

It was really had to pick a photo for today.   I had old barns and houses, rusty things, a field of ibis at the dairy farm,  a flying saucer thingy, a big giant teapot!, and interesting store fronts.   Flowers were blooming in this area and there were honey bees on some shrubbery we saw.  I wish I had 500 extras so I could share some of rural South Carolina.   

 This particular door was in Elloree and the lace curtains completely covered all the windows of this store front so we could not see inside.  We wondered if they were remodeling and did not want anyone to see or if they just wanted it to be private.     It made a good black and white photo though.   

We found a really good little cafe for lunch.  I had a turkey croissant with apricot jam mustard..it was yummy.   I did not get any cake though..the special cake of the day was chocolate sea salt caramel..I really wanted it but I resisted.   R had two homemade macaroons instead of a sandwich!  I should have had the cake!    I will be going back to this place for lunch again!  

In the extra is an entry for derelict Sunday plus a photo of two old unused buildings.    We passed by this former town, Lone Star, where there were only four  buildings on one side of the road and a small church just past these buildings.   This building looked almost like a church because it had double doors but I think it may have been a store.  There was a building that looked was a railroad station, a brick building that could have been a hotel and a store/gas station along with this one.   Across the road was a tiny building that may have been a post office but there were no cars or people around.   The area around these buildings is used for farming and there were a few barns and house up the road before we got to these buildings.    It was an interesting place.    We found out that some small buildings were moved to Santee a few miles up the road and are restored on the inside and  used as a Barbeque Restaurant.  The third photo shows those buildings.    Another place to go eat!
