Sun on the viaduct
What a lovely day and we were so ready for it after several days of gloom. I wanted to take this picture of Lowgill Viaduct whilst there was some brightness, so that's where we set off for. It was still quite early, when we got to the place from where I wanted to take the picture, and the sun was low in the sky, so the hills are a bit hazy, but the light was perfect for highlighting the viaduct and the track bed. This shows the viaduct and the line of the track just outside Lowgill Station. (See first extra). I think it is quite spectacular.
As it was turning into such a lovely day, we carried on, following the railway and the River Lune and then onto Hawes. Of course we stopped for lunch at the Creamery and then tried all the cheeses before buying some to take home. We took the fabulous route from Hawes through to Ingleton and then back home via Kirkby Lonsdale. The second extra is a viaduct that needs no introduction - no train sadly, but look no people either!
