Early birthday celebration

The holiday is over, it's back to school this week, and Adam and Luke are going back early to university this week to work, but before we get back to post-Christmas diets we had one more celebration today. Thomas turns eighteen the week after next, and today was our last chance when the five of us are all together to celebrate the occasion - so we had an early celebration and went out for a lovely lunch. He has been to umpteen 18th birthday parties already this year - last night was another black tie party - but he has decided not to have a party so today was the family celebration and in two week's time he is celebrating with a small group of friends in London.

Luke also went out last night with friends and said for the first time ever there was a strong presence of armed police on the train to London, walking up and down the carriages. The stabbing of that victim on our train line has shocked everyone in this area, it certainly is unprecedented and not what one expects in the home counties - what an awful tragedy. I guess it was a freak occurrence and no way would it put people off from commuting by train.

I haven't noticed the longer days yet as it has been rather grey lately...hopefully that will soon change.
