New beginnings

London, one of the oldest cities in the western world, is constantly undergoing new developments and new beginnings. Here is one of my most favourite buildings in London (I even received a painting of it as a birthday present one year), the Battersea Power Station - designed by Sir Gilbert Scott in the 1930's (and plant B in the1950's), it is one of the world's largest brick buildings and known for its original, lavish Art Deco interior fittings and decor. It was decommissioned from 1975-1983 and now it is being brought back to life and developed as housing, restaurants, shops, parks and cultural spaces, an area of new beginnings. Those cranes remind me of spiders legs, and at night it makes quite a sight with the red warning lights all over those cranes.

New beginnings too for Luke - today we started looking at flats in London for him to get a feel of what accommodation is available at what price. He is starting full time employment in September and we need to start thinking about accommodation for him in London as he would prefer not to live at home and commute when he will be working long hours. London properties are so expensive it will not be cheap living in London! 

A friend told me today that four people have died in an avalanche where we have just returned from skiing - they have had so much snow, it has been too much. Makes me shudder to think about it, just awful to hear about this.
