Simplicity

On a cloudy day, when there's little direct sunlight, the world can become a simpler place, more black and white, fewer distractions.
This silver birch is growing on the edge of the lake. On the landward side there's a little vegetation poking through the thin snow, but the lake, frozen and snow covered, is just plain white and featureless, apart from a shallow marshy bit up in the top left of the picture.
The extra is the summer swiming jetty, frozen into place on the edge of the lake.
