Autumn along the road from Commondale to Kildale

The light was stunning as we drove along the road this morning, so much so that I turned round at the top of the hill and drove back so that I could take this image.  Although I chose a few different viewpoints and crops I think this comes closest to what I experienced as I first drove along.

There were two birdwatchers twitching away on the stretch of road where I parked the car who shared with me the latest update on the juvenile sea eagle that had been spotted on this stretch of the road last week.  As we drove past on Wednesday there must have been twenty cars parked along the road, and there were plenty of spotting scopes and long lenses in evidence.  Apparently a juvenile has been spotted in Scotland so it sounds like he has finally made it home.

Lovely colour in Pam’s garden yesterday evening and lots of colour at home.  I think more than we usually see in Ayton Wood.
