Pre-party painting
It's thanksgiving! Owen is really down and out today. He slept through the night but woke at 7:45 while I was out at the track with the ladies for a run. I came home to him screaming in the bathroom because he had gone diahrrea and it had been in his diaper a while and burned him very bad. It was awful and he was in terrible pain all day on top of his fever and stomach illness. We hung out in the morning and finished preparing for our guests to arrive around 1 or 2. The Durochers were the first to come, followed by Jon and Jesse, then the Belsons and then Harold and Erin. As people piled inside, Owen recoiled more and more and had a really hard time with all the commotion. It was a challenging day. It's hard enough to put on a big event like this, but for Owen it was a day of "who moved (all) my cheese." He has a hard time sharing his toys on a good day, and all of these circumstances compounded everything. By the end of the night about the only thing I was really thankful for was that the day was over, and that is sad but true. Just hoping for Owen to have a speedy recovery. When Anna and I took all the kids to dragon park just before dinner Owen could barely walk. He was ok until we came back home and had the final preparations for dinner. Shane, Ali, Maeve, Christy, and Rob had just arrived and with all the chaos Owen really recoiled and just didn't want to interact in the festivities. Erin was a huge help and played stickers with him while John and I were in the kitchen. In hindsight we probably should have cancelled the entire event, but I think everyone else had fun. John put up the dart board and most people hung out pretty late. The kids did have some fun dancing and playing dress up in Owen's room right before we had dessert. That was a relief. I laid down with O around 9 for him to go to bed and woke up at 11 to visit with everyone for a little bit before people headed to the Hotel Oregon.
