Still sick

I have a terrible cold and decided to stay home today, which was a good thing because O's sickness made a resurgence. He threw up after breakfast so I decided to warn everyone if they wanted to cancel coming to our house for Thanksgiving. Shane and Ali decided to stay at the hotel with Maever, but everyone still came. There were a lot of preparations necessary and our chore list was very long. John worked on getting everything ready while Owen and I lounged on the couch all day trying to recover. We got cozy and read books all morning before nap and then I napped with him because he just wanted to be held. I hate reaping any benefit from his illness but it was really nice to cuddle with him as he is not like this unless he is sick. He started to complain that his back hurt in the morning so I made an appointment to see the doctor in the afternoon. We woke him from his nap at 3 and John took him to get checked out. The doctor said it was normal and not to be surprised if he gets sick once a day for an entire week. Owen resisted bed tonight and I came home from grocery shopping at 9:15 only to find him drawing on his new magnetic chalkboard that John painted for him. He had made a very impressive drawing of a lizard that he described in detail, from it having an eye, spines, and even poop! We finally got him to sleep around 10:15 and could finish our to do list. I made a winter salad that Kourtney Wessels made last weekend for Jill's baby blessing. It is flavored with a star anise and vanilla bean syrup poured over apricots, figs, pears, apples, and pomegranate seeds. Yum! All ready for the big celebration tomorrow.
