The Canary

I went into the aviary this afternoon, and took some pictures of our birds. This little canary was sitting on its perch, singing out to have its photo taken. We have quite a few canaries, and several nesting at the moment. It is fascinating seeing the babies hatch, and then watching them grow until they are big enough to leave the nest. We also have two Burkes, but they unfortunately haven't mated - it is hard to tell if they are female or male, so we probably have two the same sex.

Our canaries are beautiful singers, especially the males, and it is nice to go outside and hear them sing. Our 4 cats just love to sit at the aviary and look at the birds - wishfully thinking how nice it would be to get inside and make friends with those birds!

We have had another beautiful day, although the wind has come up a bit this afternoon. It is 3.30pm and 22 degrees outside.
