A city cyclist!
Today I finally found out what it is like to be a city cyclist as I had to drop my bike off in the city centre of Glasgow for a service. I let the train take the strain which was very relaxing, the city centre cycling however was not quite as relaxing. Don't really know how people do it. I honestly would have been quicker walking from Queen's street station to Dobbies loan. It was a very intense experience and one which I am in no hurry to repeat.
I saw this lovely machine while I was wandering the streets aimlessly waiting for the bike shop to phone and tell me that I could pick up my bike. It reminds me of the little Raleigh 20 (that's the size of its wheels- 20") what was at one time called a "shopper" - a bicycle with small wheels and a sturdy frame designed to withstand weight, equipped with fenders, racks and baskets. Modern incarnations are the bobbin and the beautifully equipped and designed Wren! Just had to take a photo of it! Could I justify having one of these???
I did enjoy wandering aimlessly but after two busses and two trains, I was glad to get home and get a nice cup of tea this evening before my dinner guests arrived. Had a wee family get together to celebrate my birthday as we were away. Was an amazing evening!
p.s. bike running like a dream, cannot wait to get out in her tomorrow for a real test drive
