North York Moors Railway
Monday 15th October 2018
A lazy start to the day, then we took a walk in to PIckering, around the outside of the castle, down to the station to photograph the steam train, then back to base.
We collected the car and went to a vantage point that my friend had found to photograph the trains. As you can see, it was a good viewpoint. We continued down to Goathland, Heartbeat country, and had lunch in a cafe before going down to the station to see both trains as they came in.
A change of tack then. The mission was to find a good point to photograph Whitby Abbey. We tried from the car park of a garden centre quite a distance away but then found this spot near to the Abbey - see extra.
Back home to view results and have dinner, which the slow cooker had prepared while we were out. A great first day of holiday.
