Urban Explorer
Today, being Saturday, meant my first day of freedom to explore the city. I woke bright and early, to be told by a group of guys that the third Saturday in every months is given over to community service; shops are closed, buses don't run, and motorcycle taxis (motos) are rare. So I walked. And walked. And walked some more, taking the odd photo and generally enjoying the sights and sounds - a flaneur, if you'll forgive the anthropological pretentiousness. I also indulged in my first moto rides (exhilarating), made some new pals at places I visited, who offered me some interesting opportunities (to be expanded upon lter). I also met James, my coordinator, for lunch, and he showed me round his beautiful house; I might live there too!
This photo is of an art centre in Kimihurura, an affluent part of town that I stumbled upon. Art for rehabilitation of mind and spirit was the emphasis, and I liked the colouring and the scene generally.
