Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Last day. Last brioche aux fruits...

The second leg boarding passes arrived during the night - so much for their promises of arriving by 4.30pm in London. Fortunately, the landlady has offered to print them for us and bring them here.

We went for our last visit to the cafe, had our usual healthy breakfast, then popped round to visit our artist friend Marie. She was labelling her jars of pumpkin 'confiture'. We chose one of her flower prints, and she signed it. She said she knew someone on her street with a printer, so we wouldn’t have been stuck, even on a Sunday.

We walked back round the pretty wee road that someone has decorated with birds on the buildings and walls. Nice.

We just relaxed at the flat, in the afternoon, waiting for the much anticipated boarding passes, which we now have in our hot little hands. Phew! Just been for a last walk round the boulevard, where the bulls run here in August, the landlady told us. They occasionally escape and run into the crowds, which means that that team of horse riders, whose job it is to keep the bulls on the right path, is eliminated (and, quite possibly, a few spectators...).

Off home tomorrow. Not looking forward to the Stansted stint... or the diet...
