Laras first day of transition
Up early and packed three lunch boxes, Lara was ready and rearing to go and try a few hours at kinder, I wonder if this confidence will stay once we get there. Lara sat and watched/helped me pack her lunch piping up when she didn't like things I was putting in her lunch box . After a few swaps she was happy with it's contents. On went her back pack as she paraded around the house waiting for me to finish off a few morning things. We had to drop of Miss Maddie first, Lara was less the impressed and put up a bit of a struggle, and a whinge, she settled down once in the car.
We arrived at her kinder at 10.am, happily she skipped/ran down the long hill towards kinder. Took off her backpack squished it beside her sisters in her locker.(now a joint one for the remainder if the year) well according to Miss Lara. A quick glance in and she was clingy again. I walked her in and she looked around at first she was saying no to all the jobs I suggested. A few little girls came over who are a year older and Miss Bailee's friends and took her by the hand to try a job. That was it she was fine from then on. At first she was letting the girls show her and tell her how to do things once she had seen what to do and was sure how to do it, the real Lara came out and she quickly told the other little girls, thanks I know how to do it NOW, I can do it myself. They were happy to stand by and help her when she needed it. Lara was absolutely loving it, she did every single job at least twice, growing in confidence each time.
I looked at the clock at it was almost time for the bell to go for lunch. I said Lara it is time to go. Well it was like talking to a brick wall. Lara had already sat herself down with all the other girls and was eating lunch. I guess we were staying a bit longer. We ended up staying for all of lunch time play. Lara running off with Bailee and, with her new found friends and me feeling like a third wheel. I didn't really see her for all of lunch play, just glimpses of her running around. the bell went and I found her lining up to go back inside. I had to tell her no we were not going back inside we had to go and pick Miss Maddie up. As time was getting very late.
I promised her we would come back tomorrow, in the morning this time at the start of the day. Lara piped up you don't have to stay mum'
