Marking Monday

Before work is the best time to approach a book to mark.

At this time of the day they are dormant and easily handled.

Environmental conditions around the books are quiet and peaceful (i.e. no students in school)

Other members of the teaching species are still asleep in their dens and unable to disturb the wannabe assessor.

Temptation comes in the form of tea.

Assessment must be carried out on a regular basis or the alpha female or male of the teaching herd will sanction the individual and attempt to exclude them from the pride.

Simple maths dictates that the marking takes up more time than is available leading to a continuing form of despair related to never feeling you have done the job properly.
