In Another World

I used to work with an amazing person called AJ. We were great friends and laughed and laughed and laughed together as well as doing all the stuff were supposed to.

One of the things we often found ourselves doing was stand in the queue at Starbucks (which was downstairs from our office) and speculate what we would choose from the cake display if we were 'In Another World'. I'm not sure what this 'Other World' was; one where cakes were as low calorie as vegetables, or a Rubens World where curves were covetable and being thin a curse, perhaps.

Anyway, we worked in industry where Christmas was King and were always slightly alarmed as well as relieved when the 'Red Cups' appeared. It meant our most dreadful, awful stressful time had both begun, but then by definition, had began to be over.

So I thought of AJ today as I bought a coffee, and spent a long time choosing what bun I wanted, but without any intension of buying one.

Had my coffee. Started my Christmas shopping. Had lunch with my friend Keith. Did some thrifting. Picked a very happy Al up from school. Watched homework happening without major drama. Took Betsy to football. Picked her up again. Chris better. Cracked open a bottle of Red wine. Nice Friday.
