Goosegreen
Went for a walk around Musselburgh and Cockenzie today. Two areas I don't know well.
This arrow is at Goosegreen Musselburgh, right at the mouth of the Esk and next to a couple of cadet huts. It had an intriguing plaque, see 1st extra and is a little piece of history. To me Goosegreen means the Falklands, so this was something new
I'm not sure about the wish stone placed on top or what the story of that is....
There were so many swans both on the Esk and the Forth, we gave up counting at well over 100. We also saw Eider docks, Gooseanders, Cormorants, various gulls and a flock of turnstones who posed beautifully.
Went on to Cockenzie and picked up some fresh haddock for tea and some lunch at Cockenzie House which is well worth a visit. The house is a 17th century merchant's house which is used by the community with craft workshops, gardens a nice cafe and some allotments. See 2nd extra.
The house is associated with the Setons as in Port Seton and the Cadell family.
