A Butterfly Moment
Dear Diary,
I chased this fellow around the garden for the longest time. It is an Eastern Tiger Swallow tail. Normally, they rest their wings from time to time as they feed but this one was fluttering excessively so it was hard to get a decent photo. Finally, he came to rest on some phlox and I was able to capture this butterfly moment.
He looks a bit different in his markings from other Tiger Swallow tails I've seen but I suppose there is some element of variation. We only have two types of swallow tails, the tiger and the black. I've added an extra of another swallow tail with slightly different markings. They do love the phlox!
