Port Appin Structures. Innellan

The longest model I've built in 1/76th scale.  For a long while I was fascinated by this street -  Argyll Buildings.  Saw them in a book, Wheels around Dunoon, by friend (the late) Robert Grieves and decided it would look good as a model in the Port Appin diorama.  Unfortunately I only had the one pic and Google earth only shows the front of it.  Some artistic licence was needed!

The roofs were a real challenge as they were a combination of hipped constructions at right angles.  Research showed that the bank building was a later attachment and designed to resemble the earlier block.  It also has a complicated conservatory built atop the extension.  What fun to build!  It took 6 weeks of fiddling and faffing, the roof of the bank took 4 attempts before I got a reasonable fit.

I made waterslide decals for the shop names and windows and gave it a 1960/70's look.

The extra shows a closer view of the Innellan Post Office (with the wonky top floor window! - Oooops).
