Mulberries

Spent most of the morning playing with Lara, games, puzzles and reading books. I am trying a different angle for her tantrums. I thought well yelling at her and putting her in her room is clearly not working lets try the opposite and give her lots of my attention. It worked a little bit she was less demanding and more happier, until her sisters got home and she was back to her firey self.

Maddi is worked up about the school swimming carnerval on the way home from school today she was in tears about going, she is afraid that kids will pick on her as she has to wear a headband over her ears for her grommets. I will have to talk her around or give her the day off.
we had a little conversation it went like this
"why do I have to learn to swim mum"?
"You learn to swim so you can save yourself when you can't touch the bottom of the pool"
"but I will never go up the deep end mum'
"What about so you can swim at your friends house with them"
"well none of my friends have pools anyway mum"
umm Well if you are on a boat and that sinks you need to be able to swim"
" I don't like boats mum, so I won't go on any"
"What about when you go to the beach you need to be able to swim back to the sand."
"I just like paddleing at the beach"
OK you JUST NEED to learn how to swim ok
Ok mum

Today when Miss Bailee got home miss Lara and her spent the afternoon picking mulberries off the trees, and their fingers and faces were stained purple. LOVE that fact that this is one of my favourite memories as a child in summer, and now my girls love doing it too.
