For various reasons, Tequila was required for tonight's dinner party. Margherita ingredients have not yet made it to the Schull Spar supermarket, which is fair enough, it's a Guinness type of place. West Cork farmers generally don't do fancy cocktails. But we did have some Vodka that the teenagers don't seem to have found yet and a little Cointreau and Spar did have cranberry juice and a lime, so Cosmopolitans it was! Mmmmmm. The talk and the laughing was mighty, which was just as well, it deflected too much interest in the slightly odd looking fish sauce that I'd created (a rice flour experiment that in hindsight could be seen as a very bold move with 6 friends coming to dinner)!
The food was fantastic, with Ruth's award winning tomatoes stealing the show as a starter and 2 cakes for pud! A chocolate and raspberry creation from Sandra, Fig Torte from Miranda. Divineness in cakedome!!!
I have to thank all of my dinner guests who do blip for the fantastic pressies, esp Tom and Ruth for the NZ Lonely Planet guide, my first digital book, I will never forget it! It is now on the ipad, so I won't have to print it off after all.....
I took this shot on my failed Tequila quest walk, the sailing school were out in force making the most of the weather. I could hear the kids laughing in their boats from the foreshore, they get free sailing lessons at the weekend through the school if they want. It all seems so idyllic when the sun shines, I was back home when the hail came later!
