Lavender Field
Trafford Town Hall this morning. The planting around the new extension is good, and at this time of year the flowering lavender looks particularly fine. As I listened to a piece of piano music by the Japanese composer Karen Tanaka called “Lavender Field” first thing this morning (I am following a play a new piece of music a day book this year) the blip seems doubly appropriate.
On the way home, I stopped off at Rixton Community Hall. A consultation/exhibition on proposals by HS2 for the proposed route from the main line to Manchester south of the M62, up to the west coast main line at Abram (extra). One massive infrastructure project, lots of disruption I guess, big local impacts, all subject to a lot of process before it gets the final go ahead - if that happens it will be built during the 2020’s and open by 2032.
