What are steps for?

I wonder why there are steps if they don't want us to climb them.
Sorry a bit silly, perhaps I should n0t be so literal with the sign.

I had an interesting experience with Kodak Customer "Service" today. It started a few days ago when I tried to print some photos and the colours were all wrong. I could not find the answer on their website so I sent them an e-mail; they sent me back a link. I went through the diagnostics yesterday and our one year old hardly used printer needs a new printhead. You can't order online so it gave me a phone number to call. Closes at 5.00 (I suppose it is late in India by then). Tried today after 20 minutes of being told my call is important and they will be with me soon I went back on the web to see if the instant chat could help. 40 minutes later (still on the phone as well) the nice person having taken me through what I had done yesterday, concluded I needed a new printhead and ... gave me the number I was on already. I gave up; I found a Freephone number (must be cheaper to get them to pay for the call). No they could not put me through; It was a line dedicated for printhead replacement sales. Yes they knew there was a problem with delays as a number of people had phoned to complain.
More research and I find out that the printhead will cost 50% of the original printer price. Time to buy Canon, HP, Lexmark anything but Kodak.
