Port Royal Villas & Spa Hotel, Rhodes
We left home at midday, and Laura the dog sitter was coming round in the afternoon so the boys wouldn’t be on their own for long.
We dropped the car off at the valet parking at Gatwick, checked the cases in and then went through the premium security lane and straight into the Club Lounge that Alan had booked. Our flight wasn’t until 4.40pm so he thought it would be a nice start to our holiday. We had a lovely meal which was included in the lounge booking and could have unlimited champagne, wine, beer and soft drinks - we stuck to champagne darling!
We boarded the plane on time only to then be told that we had an hour and 20 minutes delay where we’d be sat on the runway. Luckily this came down to an hour and we had our books so the time passed quickly. There was a fair amount of turbulence over Germany and Austria and we saw some amazing cloud formations.
When we arrived and got our cases, one of them has been so badly damaged that we had to go and complete a damage report. I don’t know what’s happened but we weren’t the only ones on our flight, there were lots of damaged cases. Anyway the details will be sent to Gatwick and on our return we have to go and see whether they will replace the case or give us the money. I wouldn’t mind but it’s a relatively new case!
Anyway our coach was waiting to take us to the hotel and when we arrived we were told that our room wasn’t ready until tomorrow and therefore they were offering us an upgrade, and had to go to a different room tonight. We weren’t very happy as we’ve paid extra for a beach front room, but as it was about 1am by this time, we said we’d speak to them in the morning. However, when we got to our temporary room we saw it’s one of the swim up pool rooms that I really wanted to stay in, but it was very expensive. There was also a complimentary bottle of wine, two plates of cold meats and cheese, plus some cakes and fruit!
I’m not sure what happens tomorrow but for now I’m going to enjoy this room and I will be using the pool in the morning! So my Blip has to be of our decking area and pool - I will try my hardest tomorrow to get them to allow us to stay here for the duration!
Anyway it’s now 2.30am and we’re off to bed! See you tomorrow x
