World Naked Bike Ride
Rach and the girls left for home this morning, and then it was time for a quick change over as mum arrives tomorrow ready for our holiday on Wednesday. So the beds were changed and the bedding washed and hung out on the line, and once that was done, Alan and I got our bikes out and cycled into Brighton.
Today was the 14th year of the World Naked Bike Ride in Brighton, where protesters take off their clothes before hitting the road to raise awareness of cycling safety, body image and the environment. It's a very peaceful protest and has the full support of the police who were cycling with them - although they were clothed! I'm sure it would have been a bit of a shock to any unsuspecting tourists though!
We then carried on with our bike ride (fully clothed), and stopped at the marina on our way back, where I picked up some sushi and cold drinks and we sat on a bench to eat it. We cycled 12.5 miles in total and the only time I used my power assist was on the final stretch up the hill to our house.
This afternoon Alan booked his business trip to Singapore in September, and I'm tagging along, so we booked my ticket too ;-) We're making a holiday out of it and are staying on for an extra week so have been looking at options of where to stay for the second week. I think we've decided on a beach resort on the Indonesian island of Bintan, and we can get a direct ferry from Singapore which takes just under an hour, and we'll have a couple of nights there, before heading back to Singapore where we'll spend our wedding anniversary. I'm very excited to be going back and it's like history repeating itself, as two years ago we went to Dubai in the March and Singapore at the end of September/beginning October.
I did hope to catch up with your journals today, but didn't manage to visit you all, and it's time for bed now, so I'll try my best to catch up tomorrow.
