And the Brass Band Plays Tiddly Ommm Pom pom
The heat and dry spell has built up slowly.
In Scotland it started maybe four weeks ago. There was a warm spell, not that warm, broken by two or three days of cold. Then it warmed up slowly and steadily.
The heat shows in the allotment. Filling the water barrels is almost a daily occurrence - so many steps are made back and forth to ensure that the plot is kept watered.
today was spectacularly warm. We were up at the allotment by 1030 this morning, and worked away, like trojans til half past two. probably half that time was spent watering.
We now have: Hanging baskets, sunflowers, Parsnips, Carrot, and Beetroot, Brussels, Cauli, and Cabbage, Leeks, Onions, Garlic, Green Beans, French Beans, Squash, rhubarb, Peas, Sweet Corn, Potatoes, lettuces, corriander, tarragon, pak choi, spring onions, - see extra for pretties.
On the way home, we toured the town to see if the sun had brought the tourists out; and boy had it.
Cars were parked on both sides of the street from one end of the beach to the other. People heading for the beach are lazy gits. - There are loads of car parks in the town.
And this - taken from the window of the car as we headed back out the town.
Madness. And betcha none of them were wearing sunscreen
