Gas Machine.
Our most urban day of the trip so far. To get from Loch Lomond to Maybole we had to pass through the Glasgow conurbation. Glad I wasn't towing! We were soon set up on our site, which was spoiled by a couple of drones being flown illegally and antisocially.
We were soon off to Culzean Castle which was the main reason we were in this part of Scotland. We had a number of idyllic visits here years ago when the kids were young. We hadn't really allowed for the fact it was a bank holiday. The place was heaving.
However we had a fascinating look round the "castle" made more interesting by "the mate's" knowledge and insight into cabinet making and the history of furniture.
Before we left I nipped down to the Gas house to see the display. It shows a reproduction of the machine which made gas for the castle and home farm. The poor gas manager had to ensure it was running 24 hours a day. The Marquis wouldn't have electricity he considered it dangerous and a fire hazard!
