Castin Paets
A cloudy start to the day, with sunny spells. A lovely sunny afternoon and evening.
Up early, and me and Sammy headed out for a walk around Scalloway. After some chores, I headed to the peat hill to start casting. Back by teatime, and met up with friend Julie after. Been to her greenhouse to sow more flower seeds, and check on the ones growing, which are doing well. Knackered tonight, so a quiet evening at home, and bed will be early.
It's been over 20 years since I last cast a peat, and it was a learning curve again. I've cast two thirds of the bank today. My casting skills need improving, every peat is either a different shape, or size. I've laid ones out to dry, and also started a dyke too, but all a bit wobbly and rough, practice makes perfect :) A cool breeze when I arrived, but I soon warmed up, and used muscles I never knew I had. Here's me busy at work with the tushkar. Taken at Brunt Hamarsland.
